We invite health care providers to join the Maryland cannabis community

Learn more about the health benefits this plant has to offer and to consider it as an alternative treatment for pain relief and other ailments. Providers, including physicians, dentists, midwives, nurse practitioners, and podiatrists are eligible to register to recommend medical cannabis to their patients.

What is the registration process for providers?


Step 1

Provide a valid email address,
Your Maryland Board of Physicians License Number,
Your Controlled Dangerous Substances Registration Number


Step 2

Complete and submit an online application here


Step 3

Verify your email address, it will contain the username you created during registration, which you will need to log into the Physician Registry, as well as your MMCC Physician ID Number

Qualifying medical conditions in Maryland

A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition that results in being admitted into hospice or receiving palliative care.

Cachexia, Anorexia, wasting syndrome, severe or chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures, severe or persistent muscle spasms, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or another chronic medical condition which is severe and for which other treatments have been ineffective.

Education resources for providers

The Maryland Cannabis Commission is offering an online medical education curriculum developed by TMCIGlobal for Certifying providers and other medical professionals interested in learning more about the clinical uses of cannabis. The course is based on the laws and regulations governing the Maryland medical cannabis program. For more information, please visit the MMCC website here

Medical Cannabis is an out of pocket expense. It is not covered by health insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid.
